In May of 2013 we decided
to go trekking in Nepal in August and to begin planning I purchased the Lonely Planettrekking guide to Nepal, Trekking in the Nepal Himalaya.. There are many good
international agencies which can arrange trekking for you but we decided that
we would prefer to engage a small, Nepali owned tour operator.
The Lonely Planet trekking Guide listed many providers so we set about trying to find one that suited us. Most of the operators replied and their quotes were all very close so it became a matter of choosing an operator we thought that we could trust. The only way we were able to determine this was through correspondence. Sanjib who is independent trekking , provided us with all the information and advice required to help us decide which trek best suited us.
We communicated regularly via email and we found their English to be very good. This made it easy for us to understand and choose an appropriate trek. We chose to trek in the Annapurna region and Sanjib tailored the itinerary to meet our personal wishes. There were only 4 in our group which included my wife, I our porter Kumar. We were fortunate to have Sanjib as our tour guide as he has trekked in the Annapurna region many times and have a vast knowledge of the area. He has built up a good relationship with the local people over the years of trekking in the region.
At the completion of our trek Sanjib recommended we tour the Kathmandu Valley for a few days instead of spending more time in Kathmandu City.
Sanjiborganized all our accommodation and transport needs. His team proved to be very flexible and accommodating and they ensured that we were happy with all the arrangements not only while on trek but before and after our trek. This is something that would not have been possible with a larger trekking company in Nepal.
Iwould highly recommend Mr Sanjib Who to anyone that has an appetite for trekking in Nepal or even further a field in other regions of the Himalaya.
